throttle position sensor trouble

Recommended Posts

good morning everyone. i am having a problem with the TPS in my '00 outback. the car was idling around 3-4000 RPM at startup and whenevr the clutch was depressed. mechanic scanned the car and told me it was the TPS. i replaced it according to the directions in the haynes repair manual, and everything seemed to work fine. light clear steady RPM at 750. three days after this normal running, the problems started. the car would hesitate and sputter when getting on the highway or with any stress on acceleration. started to idle high again and light is back on. mechanic told me there was a long adjustment process for the TPS on this car, but i can't find it in a manual anywhere. Is there an adjustmernt for this car? am i frying TP sensors? any help is GREATLY appreciated!

thanks-
