Cooling question

Recommended Posts

I've been noticing several people on here refer to a two row turbo radiator. Did EA82T's come with a two row radiator stock? Both of my Turbo XT's had single rows in them, and they both run hot. I had a hell of a time finding a replacement radiator that would fit, so I finally settled for a single row. Is this probably a big part of my overheating problems, on these turbos?

Thanks!

I have a turbo XT, and a 88 GL wagon, and it seems that both of them have single rows, and the XT gets hot, but stays below overheating (just barley, with the heat on full blast) and the wagon killed itself due to a clogged single row!...

where is a good place to get reman/new or good used dual rows?? anyone know? this swap sounds like a good plan!

or maybe will a legacy (1990) aluminum radiator fit in the wagon? ive got a spare!!

I bought a new single row rad from Modine a year ago, I think I paid $130 for it, including shipping. They also sell two row rads, which should be pretty good as well, judging from how good mine has worked. Now my temp guage almost never moves once the engine is warm, whether I'm sitting in traffic, going up a steep mountain trail in 1st gear low, or doing 90 on the highway.

Three times now I've had good luck with Radiators.com, next day delivery and cheapest price on nice radiators. In order to get the 2 row part # I had to call the 1-800 number and ask for a rad to fit a loaded '91 Loyale turbo. Don't know if Subaru started installing 2 rows stock in '91 or what, but that's how I got a 2 row that fit my RX. Fan clearance becomes tight, I switched to dual electric fans. Also needed to get a '91 style lower hose. Ask for the "ordering online price." Should be around $116 delived next day.
