Hi all

I am considering a 01 OBW, 2.5L, 5 MT with approx 100,000 K.

One my reasons of considering the OBW is to tow a 1,500 lb tent trailer.

Is there any concerns? Are the issues with the radiator, head gasket or the clutch could affect the decision?

The Subee is off warranty. Are the concerns with the power train enough to justify the cost of the extended warranty? (I am not a believer in the extended warranty as you have to fight with the company to get the actual coverage)

Thanks

Garth H

I have a 96 Outback with auto. I tow a 2000lbs caravan with no problem. Because the auto I installed a small trans fluid cooler. That all. No headgaskets yet (110k). knock on wood.

I also tow a 2000lbs boat with 2000 legacy AT. I installed AT cooler and AT temp gauge. So far so good (limited distances though, up to 70 miles).

With MT there is always a chance to burn clutch, I guess.
