sub engine to rwd trans

I have been kiking around the thought of hooking a subaru engine to a RWD trans for install into some custom cars I have been looking at I know you can use a 4X4 trans and plug the front shafts but it seems that it would be extra chance of something breaking.

my thought is that they make adapters for sub-VW and ford 2.3-vw so why not a sub engine-ford 5 speed.

with the right mesurements it should not be that hard.

what do you all think?

It's could be done. Someone posted a year or two ago about how he mounted a Powerglide to a EJ22 when he built a rock crawler. Comming up with an adapter for an automatic maybe a better way to go since there would be fewer thing to match up and make work.

try a nissan 240 tranny, the input shaft is a perfect match from what i hear, and you can remove the bell housing..... so a little modificcation of a cut off subaru one might bolt on without too many problems...... just my .02

I used a nissan clutch plate (180B to be exact) in a subaru g/box when i adapted a toyota motor into it, so a similar nissan box will fit a subaru plate.
