I have a 1996 Legacy Station Wagon with a 185,000 miles on it. I have the left front half shaft off, and was wondering how difficult it would be to change the wheel bearing? Is it necessary to remove the stearing knuckle assembly? Any assistance would be much appreciated......

Thanks in advance :o)

Yeah you do. And removal of the bearing race can be a biotch. If it doesnt easily press out, you may have to do some serious heating and cooling combined with some serious sledgehammering. Took me awhile to get mine out but once it was out, then I had no problems.
