carfreak85 Posted September 2, 2003 Share Posted September 2, 2003 Ok, so I got the peice of $#!T started up after almost a year of downtime and I need to know some specs for the driveshaft. im gonna use the 1pc driveshaft, so how long does that need to be? It is going into a wagon(), and I'd like to get it out of the garage ASAP so i can get the Benz up to snuff. Edrach didnt i hear something from you back in the day, Zap, Q, anyone? thanks guys! Qman Posted September 2, 2003 Share Posted September 2, 2003 The two-piece driveline is the right length. Just need to have a center mount installed. Alot less money than having a one piece built. TomRhere Posted September 3, 2003 Share Posted September 3, 2003 Tried and true method of getting proper length of the driveshaft is.... Slide the front yoke of the driveshaft onto the tranny outputshaft, and bottom it against the shaft, measure the distance from the center of the fixed u-joint cup, ( the one one the yoke itself, not the one on the shaft), to the center of the u-joint saddle on the rear diff, subtract 1" from this measurement, and you have proper length to give to the shop that's making your new shaft. I have used this method for many a different vehicle, and it is always right. The Guys at the shop I use, never queston my measurements, after I explained how I derived my length needed on the first one I needed built. Told me it was the best method to use. MilesFox Posted September 3, 2003 Share Posted September 3, 2003 the driveshaft i butly was laid out next to a 2pc, with the yokes ans u joints oriented the same way. but i thik it all came to 61 inches. i am mostly sure 61 inches but we might want to have a "recall" on that to be certain. mine went onto a wagon..................
