Anyone ever Turboed their N/A EJ22 ?

Recommended Posts

The reason I ask is I have a spare turbo laying around (Nissan T25g from 2 litre)from my first turbo conversion in my Pulsar (Sentra or something for you US folk) and was thinking of making a custom manifold (Im a welder) and putting the turbo on it.

Im certain a set of WRX injectors should bolt straight in and maybe a rising rate fuel pressure regulator to control the fuel flow and I have a large Bosch fuel pump lying around to go in as well.

Provided I keep it at eh standard 7psi I cant see any issues arising.

Im keen to know if Subaru use a wide band oxygen sensor or not as well.

After getting out of the Pulsar or TX3 the old Liberty is a bit slow if you get my drift, esecially as the Pulsar is a 12 second car now, just its a little too driver intensive to cruise around in.

The engine has a few miles on it (160,000),but it runs a treat and never misses a beat and has no signs of wear at all,so Im confident it should be fine.

Any other done this?

I am the guy that SC the 1990 2.2.

First off, I spent $2000 or so plus alot of time. If you followed my threads, then you would save alot of time.

But......

You need 370 cc injectors, better fuel pump, rrfpr of some sort, AFC of some sort AND the aluminum MAF sensor off of the 90-91 manual NA or the 91-94 turbo models. plus other bits.

I am running about 7 psi and managed 152 whp and 160 torque with bad fuel pressure and running on 3 1/2 sparkplugs (didnt realize one plug wire wasnt on tight enough.

I would take a trip over to legacycentral forum, there has been talk of this over there about putting turbos on the NA engines. I guess it can be done with low boost. From what I have read it is probably easier and safer to drop EJ22T into the car. The turbo has a different block(closed deck?) and has oil squirters where the NA has an open or semi open deck. There are other differences too, but I don't really know what they are. Oh well, good luck.
