I purchased a 93 legacy LS (or L, whichever one w/o the turbo) wagon a few months ago and am extremely pleased with it. As far as I can tell, the only thing on it non stock are the rims. I would like to upgrade some of it's components, hopefully to make it last longer or more fun to drive. I don't know where to start however. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Good tires and shocks are a good first move in my opinion. A rear sway bar doesn't hurt. I am running Traction T/A's on WRX wheels with KYB GR-2's and the IPD rear sway. These were the first, and definitely most significant mods I made. The KYB's and IPD bar are excellent bang-for-the-buck items!

After that? Maybe some stainless brake lines, shifter bushings, and strut tower braces?

It's tough to make the car accelerate on a budget, so the best thing to do is make it able to go without slowing down too much ;)

Assuming all the maintenance is up to date? Filters, fluids. plugs, wires, etc... These can really slow you down if they aren't kept up with.

Just my $0.02.

Ditto on that. Don't waste money on fancy junk like air filters and whatnot...the K&N once might say you'll get more power...but it'll kill your lower RPM power. Just change the oil and filters regularly...and it'll last a long time.

More fun to drive? Do you already have the alloy rims? If not get them. struts and a rear sway bar get my vote as well, along with good rubber to hold you to the road. Under the hood there is not a lot that needs to be done, unless you are looking to make a rally racer out of it, inwhich case you probably need uo upgrade to an Imprezza (as there are more mods available for it. . .) Oh, and keep the salt from the roads off of it as much as you can.
