I want to relate experience I had recently with the service dept. at Beechmont Subaru. My 2002 Forester has a engine miss/hesitation problem that has been intermittent. My CEL has never came on. This problem has been ongoing for about 6 months. At first I thought maybe water in the fuel, tried dry gas and that didn't seem to help. I then decided to change the plugs and wires, that didn't seem to help either. I did research and decided I might have a bad oxygen sensor , from what I learned sometimes a bad o2 sensor won't create an error code, hence no CEL. I took vehicle to dealership service dept. and told them same story as above. I get a call next day that the clutch is slipping and the reason for the hesitation. I was also asked if the timimg belt had ever been changed, and since it was getting close to suggested maintenance interval for replacement, now would be a good time to replace. B.S. I know when a clutch is slipping, my clutch may be worn, but it doesn't slip. The service invoice even stated "Possible clutch slipping". There was no indication that any engine analysis was even done. I declined their $1,100 offer to change clutch, had to pay $44 for the diagnosis. I am now searching for another mechanic or dealership in southern Ohio/N.KY for second opinion, any suggestions? Thanks
