Hello, my throwout bearing is making noise and my timing belt and water pump and gaskets need to be replaced, I am thinking about pulling the engine and doing the work on it and replaceing the clutch and throwout bearing... My question is what is the best clutch to use and where do I get one and how much? My car is a 1993 subaru legacy L AWD Wagon, ej22 engine, sohc I off road the subie and go through some snow every now and then... I drive the car 180 miles a day and need to get on it, as in drive like hell... (denver driving) the current clutch slips a little bit. any ideas?

Thats what I would do, the timing belt is down right fun to do off the car on a bench. Clutch disc, use dealer parts or a LUK brand kit, you will be glad you did.

Best clutch? I don't know. Worst clutch: Fenco, sold as DynaPak or DuraLast. Not coincidentally, they're also the lowest-priced.

Mine came with a bum bearing. A clutch change is not a job I like having to do twice.

Heh, that is what is in my car now, as I did not have the cash for a good clutch when mine went out and I needed the car back on the road now. . .

I got the lifetime warranty though, so I brought in annother burnt out clutch and pressure plate (cast off parts from a conversion) and now have a replacement ready and waiting in case this one shows itself to be short lived (and yes, I'm being nasty to it to get it to do so. I did not resurface the flywheel when I put this in due to time and the same no cash status).
