Subaru45895
I own a '90' Subaru Legacy. I checked the codes on the transmission. The Speed Sensor and Solenoid C codes appear. Is it possible if the Speed Sensor is bad that I would get a false code for the solenoid? What is the easiest way to check the Speed Sensor 2? Thanks, Dan
Legacy777
Hey Dan, It's very possible the speed sensor could have caused the duty c solenoid code. What symptoms/problems are you getting? Or just that those codes are displayed? If you're not having any problems, I'd just clear the codes, pull the egi/tcu fuse, and just keep an eye on things. Subaru45895
Hi Josh, The car has an automatic transmission. Sometimes it would hold in third gear to long. That would happen only when car was first started. Then I noticed while turning right that the right back wheel wanted to drag around the corner. After all of this happen, then I got a flashing power light on dash after starting car. I checked the codes and that is when I got code 24 & 33. Thanks, Dan
Legacy777
The TCU holds the gear in 3rd when trans temps are very low, so the fluid heats up faster. So this is normal during the winter time when temps get really low.

Legacy777
You can tie into the VSS2 signal at the ECU or TCU. it should be an oscilating 0 to 5v Here's the pin out for the ECU & TCU http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/ECU_I-O_page1.jpg http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/TCU_I-O_page2.jpg
