I'm new to posting here so I thank you in advance for the help.

I have a 99 Forester with keyless entry. In the middle of winter we had a problem that required pulling the fuse on the system (flashing lights...). When I went to try to reprogram I found the button had been removed and there is a loose cut wire under the dash.

Could someone confirm the colour code of the wire to the program button and if the wire simply gets grounded to the frame when you hold it, or am I missing another wire???

Thanks All.

Welcome to the Board,

I wish I could be of more help, my 01 has no program button, you just do a whole bunch of stupid things in a certain order and it accepts the remote code.

Usually the wires are tied pretty well to the frame and harness. There should not be much "slack" between where the wire orignally went and where it is now.

Is there a piece of wire/wire insulation in the back of the program button that might show what the color was?

As far as that goes, is there any wire in the back of the program button???

Good luck,

Glenn

There was a button when I first bough the car. I bought it used and brought it back shortly after purchase to fix a couple problems including the button missing from the housing that shrouds the button. When I got the car back the button and the shroud were gone. At the time I had other things going on so chasing the dealer was not the first thing on my mind.

It appears there should be some wire but I don't want to just start shorting it to ground without knowing this is correct.

Cheers.
