Impreza WRX 2002 CEL P0302 P0303

Recommended Posts

Hi, this is my first post and I am a french canadian and NOT a mecanician.

Two weeks ago, on my way home I had a CEL on my 45,000km impreza WRX 2002, I've stopped the car, restart it, the motor was shaking, I've hit the road again, then the CEL start blinking, I've stopped the car again, restard it, CEL continue to blink, drove the car home...

Called Subaru dealer, they tell me to bring the car. 2 weeks now and the car is STILL there... They found two errors P0302 and P0303, they replaced injector, tried to change ECU with another Subaru WRX 2002 that didn't correct the problem, they're seem clueless with this problem... What test should I told them to do ???

A depresed man :(

A quick google search pulled this up for ODBII

P0301 Cylinder 1 misfire detected

P0302 Cylinder 2 misfire detected

P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire detected

P0304 Cylinder 4 misfire detected

I'm sure others here could tell you alot more than I can but, I would check the plugs on Cylinders 2 and 3 to see what they look like. It could be bad wires, bad plugs or a bad ignition coil.

Let us know what happens. I'll drink a Labatt Blue tonight for ya.

I am hesitating to take it to another shop, first, I don't want to pay them for not finding the problem and then if I take the car to another dealer and the problem is really a tough one to find, I don't want twice all the hour they passed to diagnostic the problem...

I am perplexe...:-\

  • 2 weeks later...

After four long weeks, they finally found the problem.

The cameshaft for cylinder #1 et #3 was broken between the two cylinders. I ask them to check to other cameshaft, because I had misfire on cylinder #2 too. I don't have the car yet but now I know what is the problem...
