Blaster coil + no ballast resistor = fried coil

Recommended Posts

Just in case anyone was wondering. Apparently you do need that ballast resistor with the Blaster coil.

What's funny is that as soon as my ignition started breaking up cruising down the road, I knew exactly what it was, pulled over, swapped the old coil back in, and was on my way in about 5 mins.

Yeah.. don't take the chance. Spend some time on the net looking up your coil... Then put it in.

Just about every coil now is the 10v type. But they are making them with inbuilt ballast's now... bad thing if you ask me, more heat = shorter life...
