I have seen the one on 1stsubaruparts.com and was wondering if anyone has it and likes it. Does it use the same mount points as the cargo cover? I would be nice to keep that and have teh dog barrier. Lesbaru Posted June 1, 2005 Share Posted June 1, 2005 I have a $40 adjustable barrier that I got from PetEdge.com (they are also at pet stores) It has two poles with smooshy plastic ends (kinda like suction cups) that adjust height with wing-nuts. The cross bars just slide to adjust length. My very anxious dog is well contained. It fit just fine in my 96 Legacy wagon and fits fine in my new Impreza wagon. But I guess it wouldn't be that big of a deal. I don't think he'd like being hidden from view anyway. He has to be able to see one of us all the time or he cries. I would bet they are different. My friend's wife's '03 seems bigger in the back. The gen 1 model has two curved pads that sit against the plastic panels under the quarter glass, and two similar pads mounted on threaded adjusting rods. The rods are tightened with nuts to press the pads against the upper trim near the headliner. The main structure is tubular steel around the perimeter with a rigid wire cage in the middle. I cut and filed openings for the third strap of a car seat, I can assure you the OEM barriers are very well made, the only objectionable characteristic seems to be the dealer price. We have a collapsible holding cage in our 02 OBW for our Cocker Spaniel, that has fabric and screen sides. There is a zipper opening in the front, and screen sides all around. After folding down the rear seats, positioning the dog cage opening at the front armrest, I can lock the cargo cover in its usual location and it holds the cage from sliding for and aft. Open the passenger front door, fire the furry friend into his home, and we're good to go. He loves it, but then again he is a docile dog who doesn't chew things and is pretty well behaved. And if we leave him in the car for 10 minutes while fueling up, we can zip up the front to keep him from exploring. This way he knows his place, doesn't put nose prints on the glass, and isn't scratching panels or seats. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Nothing a little windex won't take care of. It would be nice if I could just add in a barrier that I don't have to take out evertime I want to put the backseat down or use the cargo cover.
