Time/complication for T-belt and seals?

Hi all

 

I am new to Subaru and find myself working on an 98 Forester (auto) There is an oil leak at the front of the engine. Not yet having removed the timing belt cover I can’t be sure but it is probably oil pump seals or perhaps crank/cam seals.

 

The question is how big of a project is doing the T-belt and seals? I have done timing belts on other cars, (VW, Audi) and other significant auto work, clutches, pulling trannies etc. So is this something I could expect to do in a weekend or better yet a long day with air tools and a bit of luck?

i'll bet all the money in my wallet ($0 :grin:) that it's the screws on the oil pump. Same exact thing happened on my impreza. It's not that hard to do, my dad and i did it in an afternoon. The hardest part i think was keeping stuff from moving :rolleyes: our attempts weren't that good.... ended up creating some crazy tool, which involved a large metal pipe, and 3 bolts welded to it :brow:. i don't know how it worked, but it did...

yeah its pretty easy...we removed the radiator from our impreza and did a flush on the radiator too...(if you go that route search for the radiator flush thread that is so popular around here....any how that gives you a lot of room..its pretty easy...like andy jo said you just have to rig yourself a little tool to keep the pullys from turning while you are getting them off....i would do the A/C and Accesory belt at the same time....hope this helps
