Spazz698
I'm planning to do a hg fix on my car (see sig) which means a lot of the gaskets are getting replaced and most of my block will be avail for upgrade-and I suddenly think turbo is a good idea. Let's say I'm planning to push 6-8psi, do I need to upgrade anything? Just remember, I'm not far from 260k, still runs great but eventually if I keep the car long enough to be able to save some money I'll be doing a major swap on my car, which is why I'm not aiming too high for the time being. I think if I want to do what I want with my car I should start with a fresh to barely broken in block, not one that's been babied its entire life and given to me (not saying I dont take care of it but I do "test" it) lol Hmm maybe I should go buy a honda to blow up before experimenting with my beloved subaru... offroadsubaruguy
turbo is good, but i would suggest a new bottom end first. otherwise you'll kill it really fast...... you dont need to upgrade anything from what i hear, although fuel pressure might not hurt....... bigger injectors, and then of course bigger exhaust.... say 3 inch from turbo back..... just a thought
Bmm001
I wouldn't try to add a turbo to a regular EJ22. The turbo ones have a "closed-deck" design in the heads, whereas the regular ones are open, as well as various other strengthening modifications and lubrication upgrades. I don't think a regular engine would last for very long with a turbo. Brian
