MiniTransAm
Has anybody figured out a good way to do this without spilling tranny fluid all over the place?? I'm assuming i'm doing it right by adding through the dipstick tube. I used the smallest funnel I could find last time and it ran everywhere. I thought my pan was leaking till I figured out what was going on. Who's got tips??
TheBrian
You're on the right track. Try rolling up a sheet of paper and sticking one end in the dipstick tube. If you don't have enough clearance, use a piece of hose with a paper funnel on one end. The latter method would require four hands.
brus brother
You can get a small funnel with a long spout at WalMart for about $3. Beats growing another set of hands.
JohnnyB
Yep, get a funnel like this: http://www.polsteins.com/blusa0posufu.html Also works well for the front diff. fluid.
MiniTransAm
I'll have to try the paper trick. I can't believe that at least didn't make the tube tapered at the top. What a pain in the neck. I think I literally dumped about a quart on the floor last time.
Setright
WAIT! It's simple: Get a rubber hose that fits inside the dipstick tube, about 1/2 inch external diameter, cut it down to about two foot in length and slide one end into the dipstick hole. The other end will be high up and easy to reach. Attach a small funnel and off you go!
jib
Beats growing another set of hands. I dunno. I often need another set of hand when working on my cars. Jack
