chuckj
The clutch in my 2001 Legacy Outback 2.5L is beginning to slip in 4th and 5th gears at 80,000 miles. I usually get over 100,000 on clutches, but this one will need replacing soon. I've replaced clutches in my older Subarus (93 Loyale, 87 DL) and the job wasn't too bad. However, these were 2WD not AWD. I've got a shop manual and the procedure for transmission removal in the Outback looks similar to the one for the older models, except for disconnecting the propeller shaft to the rear wheels. I'd appreciate advice on 1) how tough a job is clutch replacment, compared to the older loyale models and 2) any useful tips beyond what's in the manual if I do tackle this. Thanks.
