Center Lamp Question

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

For those of you who have original equipment cyclops lights.....answer this question for me if you know....

Did they only function with the high beams on???

My 82 hatch seems to have a relay under the front pass seat that makes the center lamp operate...(i.e. - I only have voltage on the switch when the high beams are on)

Thanks for your educated opinion, for those of you who know..

Chris

does that go for all years? Cause I have one I pulled from an 80 wagon, and it has a switch that says "Passing Lamp" on it. So on the original car, if I hit that switch with the high beams off.... nothing would happen? Just curious, cause I was thinking that if it was truly meant to be used for passing, wouldn't it be dangerous to use the high beams when passing - simply so you could use the passing lamp?

On an 82 the center (driving ) light will only operate with the high beams. Page 16 of the owners manuel confirms this. Your switch should light up and the dash will indicate "center lamp".

I wired mine up to come on seperate from the headlights and the little indicater light in the dash still works to tell you the center lamp is on.
