ET1710
Hello all!! Recently my Outback has started slipping out of 5th gear. It acts as though it won't go all the way in. Also after i put it in rev and back up, it won't go into any gear until I get it in to 5th. I checked the gear oil and it was well below "add". I corrected the low oil issue, but the poping out of gear and the shift problem is unchanged... If any one could help please!!!
Setright
Something inside the gearbox is worn out. Could be synchro ring, could be a main bearing. Geabox has to come out to remedy. Unless it's a gear stick linkage problem. Should be easy to check, there is only link.
ET1710
Cool Thanks!! I'm taking it to a shop this week, I just hope they don't want to replace the whole thing!!!! The linkage is fine, nothing loose. bent or otherwise out of wack! As far as the gearbox, they can take that out and repair it (providing that is all the trouble really is) without having to pull the whole trany, right? If they pull they whole thing I'll have them replace the clutch also (96k mi). Any suggestions on a clutch?? 1710
