I just changed the thermostat, and i have no air bubbles in the radiator, that i can see anyhow. My question is, why is the coolant going into the rad from the resevoir bottle[i hooked it up myself] but not going back in. Can it be the radiator cap is no good, i can;t really tell how to check it. But the cap is a 13psi one, is that the right type, or should i have a cap with a vent latch built into it. Can someone tell me if 13 is ok, or should i go higher maybe 16? and should the cap have a vent or not?

13 is correct. You can have the cap checked by any good auto parts store, or buy a pressure test kit if you want. They have a pump that allows you to pump up the system to check for leaks, and generally an adaptor that allows you to check the cap as well.

You say the coolant is flowing into the radiator? That just doesn't sound right - that should only happen if the engine is hot, and is cooling down - then it should suck the fliud back into the radiator from the overflow tank as it cools. Sounds like you may have a bad cap, and maybe a leak somewhere as well, you must be losing air in order to make room for the fluid that is being sucked in. It should be a sealed system, so if air is getting out, it must be going somewhere - got any white smoke?

with that ea81 radiator, it should do that. the fluid stays about 3 inches from the top. not sure if it will ever suck it back in, but it pushes what it doesnt want out the tube.

no white smoke at all, when i backflushed the other day, i filled the resevoir to the max, 2 days later i checked it and there is a considerable amount gone, still a little bit in the resevoir, between the low mark and empty. The rad is full though, probably a little over the leve[ i know the max is that metal tab that sticks out.
