Just wondering if anyone has some experience driving an unmodified Forester on beaches. I've heard some people say they are great in the sand, but the Park Rangers where I want to drive it (Assateaque Island) say that they get stuck too often.

or just some really huge ballloon tires will do the trick.of course in order to get them to fit you might need to lift your forester, but no biggie right?

ooorrr.... he could convert his forester into a hovercraft, but no biggie right? :drunk:

Carry some wood to put a jack on if you do get stuck. Maybe a few extra pieces to put under the tires to help you ramp out of the ruts you might get yourself buried in. Is the Forester stiick or auto.?

Get a good jack (small floor one) don't rely on the factory jack to bail you out.

Air down too!

and travel light. i think the forrester is heavy, not a good thing for what you're trying to do.

wider tires would definitley be a plus. you can buy one size wider tires and they will fit your stock rims if you're really into doing this. less psi per contact area of tire helps plane the car out over the sand. but it does the same on water too so you'd loose a little bit of wet road performance..mostly on standing water and snow.
