Electrical problems

Recommended Posts

I have an 81 subaru BRAT and something wrong in the wiring of the tail lights. The break lights and the reverse lights flash with the turn signals. I think all the harnesses from under the dash back are good and I cant see any thing wrong with any thing under the dash. when I unhook the the back harness every thing works fine up front so i dont think the problem is with the front lights. Is there any swich, relay or something that may have gone bad? Do the wires under the hood have any thing to do with the tail lights? Does anyone have any suggestions or advice that would help me?

Thanks

thanks for the replys

i have checked that stuff and it all looks fine. I think it is something in the wires somewhere because when I put it in reverse all the tail lights come on. when I turn on one turn signal the break lights on both sides come on veary dim and the turn signal works. with the head lights on the turn signals on bth front and back come on veary dim.

I was thinking it was the wire harness but why wouldn't anything other than the lights be affected?

And should the tail lights be working when the ground is unhooked and i have all the wire harnesses and lights laying on the floor?

any ideas?

Thanks

I've come across that situation with a few of my subs it's usually a bad connection have you taken your taillights all the way apart ; If you pull the bulbs out you can push the bulb conn. out from the back and check the solder from the wire to the the little disc which makes the bulb conn. sometimes they are kind of green and or broken.
