WRX wheels on 95 legacy?

Recommended Posts

Quick question:

Thinking about buying a set of used WRX stock wheels and tires to go on my 95 legacy.

Will the WRX 16" wheels fit a 95 that has 14" stock tires and wheels?

Any problems doing this?

Any advice?

Thanks for your quick and timely responses.

There shouldn't be a problem, especially since, if I'm not mistaken the '95 s came with 16" as an option. I didnt have any problems when I did that with my '90 Legacy (The difference is amazing, both handling and looks, I got some gold 6 spoke :D)

You imply that your also getting used tires with the wheels, make sure that they are all the same model, size, and all are worn equally to avoid AWD problems

 .

Hope this helps :-)

The '95 models came with 14" standard, 15" alloys optional. No problem with the 16" WRX wheels, other than the tiny brake rotors being more visible.

We've had the car loaded with 5 people, the roof case loaded, and the dog and still have never had a tire rub the fenderwell.

The looks improve dramatically. You will, however, be required to buy lug nuts (12mm x 1.25?).

I put a set on our MY95 Legacy L. They are great--improved handling and they feel tighter than stock size when driving.

Absolutely NO rub or any other problems. The diameter is marginally bigger but width added only 1/4 overall (1/8 inch on each side). Speedometer is now closer to accurate than with the stock tires!

Thanks,

I checked yesterday and was incorrect about the stock size on the 95. The tires are actually the 15 inch and therefore the 16's should fit OK as you have indicated. Guess I was remembering the 300 SD Mercedes that did have very undersized 14 inch tires.

Thanks again, I plan to buy a set of 16 inch and your input is very timely and helpful.
