Pretty sure you can just crank it up to like 20 or 30. I'm no expert on them turbo thingies, though.

I think he's saying what can you go up to with just an MBC.

If stock boost is 14psi, I'm going to go with 14psi. I think people generally frown upon just throwing an a boost controller and upping the pressure.

As someone who has chosen to designate themself as someone from a Subaru Dealership by their User Name, they need to be careful what they say on this board. I can just see someone saying, "Yeah, that ryan@teapesubaru guy said it's ok so if it blows up they'll fix it..." Be careful

if i remeber correctly, you cant really use a mbc on subarus because its all done by the ecu.... i have heard of instances where someone tried to use one and it did nothing because the ecu will basically override the mbc and only stick to that which is programmed... however, i do know that you can reflash the ecu to allow more boost. safe limits? i would say that 20 would be safe, but im pretty sure the motor can take at least 30, the tranny is a different story though.....

Well, it really depends upon how long you want your engine to last. You can keep it at 14 and be happy a long time, you can boost it to 30 and start putting money away for a rebuild shortly, or you can boost it up to 50 for a single run and have a spare engine sitting at the finish line, the choice is yours.

The main thing is with the stock turbo....anything much above 14 psi, and you're completely out of the compressor's efficiency range, and you're not really getting much more flow, just creating a bunch of hot air.

If you want more boost, you need a bigger turbo.
