I did a compression test on a 97 Legacy and the compression was too high. 2.2L engine. 210, 195,195 and 185. Thought I noticed a puff of something out of the air intake tube to the IAC when I did the test... tube was disconnected accidently. Car ran fine. What do you think?

Hi,

A compression ratio that high usually indicates carbon buildup in the combustion chamber. The wide spread indicates varied amounts of buildup and is an issue in itself.

There are top end decoking treatments that are supposed to be very effective at removing such deposits, cleaning the intake valves, manifold and cat.

Regards,

Adnan
