camber problem

Recommended Posts

The camber on my 84 Brat is worse now and has worn through to the cords on the passenger side front tire. Driver side is bad but liveable. I know there is not any factory adjustment for this and I know it is a common issue. I know I'm not the first with the problem but I can't find any old post on this or anything in the USRM. Any suggestions before I replace the tires? It has adjustable shocks and they are all the way down.

it was worse with the shocks cranked to raise the front end but they are all the way back down now. I checked the suspension and noticed the ball joint is in the correct spot to affect the camber but felt like it was still tight. I know I saw some old post with someone who made changes at the top of the strut to give some adjustments. But what would change so much to make it necessary?

Guest subu luvr

when i replaced the struts in the hatch, i saw atop the

upper spring perch, something about "this way" for 2wd

and "that way" for 4x4.

i believe you rotate the top of the strut 180 degrees

dont quote me, but have a look at the top of your strut

and see if you see any markings.

i will go look at the spares i have.

and even if i am wrong, you can slot the top strut mount holes

to let you move the top of the strut inwards, toward the motor,

thus correcting the camber
