NYC-Pottsvile PA (ROCKS!!!!) and back **THANKS*** for the help!

Recommended Posts

WagonsOnly and I will be heading down to Frackville just near Pottsville.Yup,right up the road from our man Dave.:headbang:

Trip should start out around 6-7AM from Bridgeport,CT.Taking 95 south to 287 south/west to either 80 or 78.If we go 80 we'll probably get distracted by Harry's.....oh boy....If we go 78 I'm sure I'll stop at Faust in Allentown.

Trip back from Frackville for wagonsOnly that day, turning around and heading home to CT with my future Turbo wagon from Mike. He'll hopefully NOT need contacts for Friday adventures from around noon through the afternoon. He'll need sedation after going through NYC,but that's another dilema.

I'll be heading out after Frackville follies to Frederick,MD probably through Hagerstown and down 70 to F'burg.

Return trip for me will be Sunday early AM to Hershey for fun and wetness!!!,then Sunday night we might crank it out home or chill out and go home Monday AM,just after 9AM leaving Hershey or wherever we stay somewhere east of Hershey.

You can skip the Hershey highway jokes.....

Thanks everybody!

Also,my son and I might branch off from my wife and daughter and hit South Jersey for some Trail driving at Pine Barrens on Monday,if things work out that way.If we do we'll be there untill late afternoon, maybe head for home around 5-6PM the latest.

I'll be in the infamous '89 touring wagon. The one that showed a good 18+ inches of air under the front when I barreled up the bank of the river.Somebody got the shot....was it the Pastor of Muppets,Trogdor!?

i just got back from harry`s today.i bought 2 seats for the brat, and a few other parts for my other cars.there was tons of subies there.i didn`t see a gen 1, but there is indeed a couple of turbo wagons.there was only one brat that was pretty shot.a couple coupes/legacys/loyales/ect.if we had more room, i would have pulled a couple motors.there was a real nice 2.5 w/ only 60k.most of the older ones were missing carbs.i bet there was over 75 subes in the yard.i did find 3 complete rupp minibikes along the way:) thats why there was no room for motors:-\ later,

Jon

You should stop by Americas oldest brewery (Yuengling) while you're in Pottsville!

:drunk: Aye young laddy, but I need to sail the ship to port less the third sheet to the wind me boy.Arrrrrgh.I just don't want to reach my destination too late.I'll already be distracted by Harry's or Faust,etc... But THANKS for thinking of that.Certainly in the future on a Harry's run!!...which maybe you could join in.;)

Thanks again Dave!

Hey,I need one small favor.Uhh,don't know why you've been holding out on me,but the specialty Subaru guy says that there's a junkyard nearby that has a lot of 70's Subarus!!!! The same guy has a couple of Subarus parked across from the specialty shop guy.If you make it to this yard, please call me with details.I can't remember the town he said it was in but I'm pretty sure it started with a K. Andrew should remember or you can just ask the specialty guy.

Pottsville is a cool little town.I guess you have to throw rocks at cars or something for kicks, but it's not as bad as some towns I've seen.University,brewery....young girls and beer, add the old Subarus...what the heck else you need???

It's none of the yards that I've been in... Was it maybe Naftzinger's in Auburn?? If Andrew doesn't recall, I'll call him up and ask him. Did you talk to Wes (son, 20 something) or Dave (dad, 40-50's).

That sounds like it could be right!! Auburn sounds correct.I probably thought K because of all the Nazi names around your neck of the woods....Klaus,Krauser,Kris Kringle....like that. There was no "Naftzinger" in Hogan's Heroes was there?

General Burghalter says find my 70's Subarus or you will be pulling axles on zee Russian Front!!!

...and I talked to the guy in his 40's for sure.

OK,I'll be waiting for a drool list.;)

  • 2 weeks later...

It was indeed Naftzinger's

Whatever we do in Scranton I'm sure Frank would appreciate it if it was soon

The turbo wagon appears to be totally dead, I left a key with Frank and when he tried to move it, it appeared to have developed some electrical issues

And Dave, if you ever do need/want to call me, take my number, I hear it works better that way:brow:

I didn't say anything about it because I didn't know anything about it until Frank emailed me and told me it didn't go. When I found out it was less drivable than it was when it first became undrivable as I was driving it (give me a break, 12 hour night shifts) I let you know.

And I answered my phone on the second ring today.

See you tomorrow morning. (here's what I have:

3dr GL, 74K, Maine car, pretty badly rotted

My mom's old Loyale, odometer rollback victim, around 300K

'89 Touring wagon, hit front end, dunno if there's anything good on it

'87 turbo wagon(s), both GL10s, would like to keep the tan one in one piece for now

'87ish carbed d/r wagon, that's going to be the donor for the 3dr I have to get inspected

Take whatever you want after the threedoor is running well. I'm thinking probably a straight tranny and diff swap. The engine is not original (MPFI nonturbo from an XT, in an RX shell), tranny is FT4WD d/r with electric locking center diff. No idea if it has turbo axles or SPFI so they might have to be swapped too, steering is loose and not within MA spec, exhaust needs patching and might need WBs. Looking like a full day.
