been having a bit of a time picturing the wee hatch bein pulled

from the mud by anything other than the wheel...

where are you guys attaching tow hooks?

and also are you mounting homemade bumpers in the stock bumper sockets?

any reinforcement?

looks like i can fab a trailer hitch using the bumper mount bolts,

and the center rear gas tank bolt as the attaching points

havent even looked at the front yet

I attached my hitch to a bolt plate under the rear deck. It then was bolted to the bumper. The bumper mounts were reinforced with 1/4 steel inside the frame rails. Never had a problem.

82's didn't have a shock absorbed bumper so this all worked well. May work for a bumper/tow bar?

the sheathed bumper is really really, ummm lightweight.

think of a old raingutter, with a plastic disguise.

even the old vw rabbits had a nice thick chunk of aluminum,

wish i had saved a few of those

ive a thing cut out here, awaiting the stick:

two plates hung between the bumper mount bolts and the body, spanned by square tubing above which the tongue goes through the body skirt, and is bolted to the same bolt which holds the *gulp* gas tank.

allows triangulation without involving the bumperette,

and if my car hadnt been rear-ended,

would hide above the sheetmetal, just below the bumperette

drilled six holes, 8 zawzaw cuts, and four beads,

and one puncture wound in an already mashed body panel
