Chassis numbers, what s the difference?

Recommended Posts

2005 is the year in question. I am a parts researcher for an aftermarket company. I have the complete parts catalog on CD for all years, all models. In particular I am researching spark plug wire sets.

2.5 sohc (non-turbo) engines in the B12 chassis are:

Brighton

L

LS

GT

GT Limited

Outback Wagon

Baja

...The above models use a certain wires

22451AA72A (1)

22451AA80A (1)

22451AA81A (2)

2.5 sohc (non-turbo) engines in the B13 chassis are:

25I

25I Limited

...The above models in Sedan, Wagon and Outback Wagon use a different wireset

22451AA94A (1)

22452AA69A (1)

22453AA14A (1)

22454AA14A (1)

(except California, which uses yet another part number).

22451AA92A (2)

22451AA93A (2)

Usually the chassis changes at the model year changes, but in this case, both seem to be available in 2005. I just received the 2006 update and I will look at it next to see if both chassis continue. Thanks for asking though.

What year legacy?

Subaru is weird....they will have a different part # for an item that is almost exactly the same except for one small thing. It could be a small little clip or something that's different, but it'll get a different part #.

What i'd recommend is putting those part #'s in an online subaru dealer's database and see if anything's been superceded. www.subaruparts.com is a good one to use.

Other then that, I'd go out to a subaru dealer and see if you can find any physical differences. If not, it's probably just numbering thing......
