Well I went to go complete pulling a 5 lug conversion for Tex / Chris today and well, with the rust on the car (stuck bolts) and the extreme heat... I paid the $50 to have the yard to it.

REAR:

Backing plates $5 each = $10

Calipers $10 each, $2 core each = $24

Rotor $10 each, $1 core each = $22

FRONT:

CV Joints $25 each, $2.50 core each = $55

Suspension Arms $20 each, $2 core each = $44

Knuckles $25 each, $1 core each = $52

Rotor $10 each, $1 core each = $22

Caliper $10 each, $2 core each = $24

Tie Rod ends $5 each = $10

Labor = $50

Total $313

I guess the $170 estimate wasnt that accurate huh? The prices here suck

I can finance the parts to you if you like... pay me $50 a month or something.

You just got screwed. If that was the set up from U-Pull-it in Portland. I had already talked to the manager about it, and I was going to get it all for about $100 and I pulled it.

How could you possibly get ALL that for $100?? There are alot of parts there. Quite honesty the prices they gave me seemed very reasonable really. The core charges drove it up a bit, and the labor was worth it. Quite frankly I am not willing to fight rust and 100 degree heat for someone elses conversion. I will however give up any financial compensation to me. I will try to call you tomorrow richie... maybe I can back out of the sale and you can swoop in and steal it away to help Tex out. I have however already charged it to my debit card :(

Hmmm another comment:

First off, if you want to try to back out, call me at 503-649-3820 and ask for mike... as I will need to call them BEFORE they pull any parts. Like I said on messenger... I know NOTHING about brakes or suspension... therefore, when jason and I only got a tie rod end and a rotor off in 1.5 hours... it just isnt gonna happen... My suggestion... either call me EARLY and get me to cancel this order (and pay richie to pull it... he actually knows what he is doing), or just take it and make payments. I DO have the receipt to back this all up and even the BFH wasnt helping on this car (from canada) so there really wasnt much of an alternative left :(

I need to know QUICK though if something needs to be done though!

I'm trying to remember what I paid for my conversion parts, but since they were purchased on two seperate trips, I'm not sure of the total, but I can tell you, it was no where near $300, it was more like $125. Just a hint, next time, if there is a next time, check with the person who you are pulling the items for if there are any changes in a quote you might have given them. I still have a set of passenger side doors that I pulled from PAP for a guy in Texas who sworn that he would buy the parts from me. When I pulled them, I left everything but the door shell at the wrecking yard so it would be lighter to ship. Now I have the two door, the guy backed out at the last second, and it's hard to get rid of doors that are not complete. It's only $50, but that is money that I could have spent elsewhere.

Well I went in today and got a full refund, no restocking fee or anything :D

I think I will leave the pulling of the parts to someone else. Richie? Any chance you could pull the parts for tex (I placed the rotor and tie rod end that I had back with the car so its all there) If you really can get it for $150 or 100 go for it. I will even transport it up to seattle to tex

I think getting your money back is best for everyone involved. Next time the price is double what you quoted, I would check with the buyer and get an ok.

When you buy a door asembly from U-Pull-it you get everything for like $45 bucks.

But if you were to buy the regulator $15, Window Glass $20(?) Window Regulator $15 Door Panel $5. Then you go back next day and buy the door for $25. That is like $80 bucks.

They were pricing you for all the parts seperately, while they were price me for a rear brake assemby front brake assembly, etc. plus I go in there and the manager knows me by name. Which always helps.

The reason why I have not gone and got it are

1) IT is to DAM% Hot!!!!

2) I owe a board member money and do not feel right about spending money on parts I don't need, when I can't afford the parts I already have.

And I would probably need close to $100 bucks to pull it also. As it takes time, gas and energy.

Tex owes you a few beers for your efforts of being a nice guy.

I agree with the heat thing, thats part of the reason I didnt want to do it either. This was really the first time that a yard has done that to me, I got a 5 speed DR for 12 pack of alaskan amber (cost to me $2.50)

I will talk it over with Tex, but I may be able to finance the parts with cash, then I can get payment from Tex when I deliver it to him.

If for some reason you do end up pulling it for him/us bring WD40

Thanks Mike for your efforts. I certainly do owe you a beer or two. Don't worry about trying to find a way to get me the parts. Its just not worth it. I guess when i want them (and can afford any price the place will charge me) i'll go and do it myself.

I noticed that one part that you forgot on the rear was the hub. Hey Richie (or Mike), I could use the rear hubs and rotors (don't need backing plate or calipers) for a project that I am working on, if you've got time. Oh, that the lower suspension arms. Please e-mail me ( corkysrocks@isomedia.com) if you want to take on the task. Thanks
