2001 RS, have a rear diff, I think, noise, it's so loud now that it's actually deafening, drowns out the stereo! Pretty sure it's the diff, maybe an output bearing. I drained the oil, it looks pretty good, no metal, a little black sludge on the mag drain plug. Car has 68k on it, very surprised to see this kind of problem at all. I thought it might be a wheelbearing but I don't think it is. And, the left output flange has an oil leak. One question, how do I get the CVs out, they don't have the roll pin in them, that I can see anyway. Also, if I get these out, will I be able to just drop the diff down and they slide out, or will I have to pull the lower suspension to clear them? The car has the diff guard on it, does this do nothing but make the diff run hotter? Thanks to all replies!
