jrossmacleod
I have a 1990 Legacy. The blower and the Max AC will stop working when it gets hot outside. I have located the problem, its the wiring behind the Climate Control Unit on the dash. At first I could just wiggle the wires and the problem was corrected, but now it's getting worse. Yesterday I took apart much of the dash and was able to get to the connections. I can't tell if the problem is the male or female connector that's the problem. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this (color coded would be nice) or experience with this situation?
Legacy777
It may be the connector.....it also may be the pins on the unit. The soldered joints crack.....that may be the issue. You can take a look, have them soldered, or just try and find a used one.

thegnman
I have the wiring diagram for your car. The wire you are having the problem with is a black and yellow wire, but there is two black and yellow wires. 1 is for the blower and high setting, 1 is for the next setting down. The diagram has it like this . Hi ( blk/yellow) Med (yellow/black). I take it the one you want is black with a yellow strip. The wire giving you the short is in this order ... Fan switch , to blower motor and breaks off between the two to the blower motor resistor. Hope this helps.
