Folks,

In these days of high gas prices I'd like to retrofit an Outback Fuel door release to my Baja.

I know I could just get a locking gas cap but where's the fun in that?

I have a 2004 Outback that I can reference, and the 'CD' manuals, but I don't see anything on how the cable is routed or anything like that.

I believe that it's all inside the vehicle. I assume that Subaru left this off due to difficulty in getting a cable to snake around the bed area.

If it's an issue of cable length, I know that Tandem Bikes have some extremely long cables and I'd like to try to get this to work.

If anyone can get detailed information on how the Outback one is attached/routed. I'd appreciate it.

Evan

Really it doesn't have one huh? I know in the SVX it goes back under the carpet to behind the rear seat and then across to the fuel side then loops around so I would think it would work just fine in the rear of a Ha-Ha. I still have the cable down stairs from our race car I think if you want it paypal me some shipping and you can have it. Not sure if its worth it though as you'll be tearing a lot out just to run it back there!

Have to agree with Seahag. It's damn ner impossible to snake a siphon hose past all the bends and air traps. But if your intention is to create a project or you intend to use the door as some form of offensive weapon then you are on the right track.

Are you afraid that someone will steal your gas? Have you ever tried to siphon a newer model gas tank? It ain't real easy...

Now, the older tanks were a straight shot. Simple deal.
