two days ago i put in johns new clutch, no problems as of today, next order of buisness- install an EA-81 where an EA-82 is, i need a cap and rotor and i should have all the pieces to finish the project. Zap i may be heading your way if the project is successful, just to show off of course, and maybe get some footage or pics to upload onto the web.

Zap, i need to make sure it works before i bring it over, but rest assured that you will be the first to see it, unless austin comes down to the house first.

Austin, i want to hold onto the engine at least till sunday to be ready to put back in incase anything goes sour.

Everyone else, I'm doing the swap for reliablility and lack of mud in belts, also the EA-82 is very tired and you cant argue with a high compression EA-81 with ported heads, bigger valves, a hot cam and a weber on top.

broke a bolt on the intake manifold but should be able to work around that, the EA-82 carby manifold dosn't quite clear the alt bracket.

the EA-81 motor mounts dont line up at all, so i will try the EA-82 and if those don't work someflat steel and an extra bolt will have to do, other than that its looking like it just might work.

Hope it works out for you Noah. Esp good luck w/ the intake bolt- don't worry, Im sure you could run a wood screw into it w/ a finish washer and be just fine ;)

good luck

Guest OH Noah

How are the motor mounts not lining up?? I could swear I've read about at least 2 others doing this swap, and I remember no mention of motor mount trouble. Are they too close together, too far apart, too far forward, ...?

I'm curious because there's a very good chance that I might someday try something like this.
