Bidding Adieu!

Last night I sold my 93 Loyale. Just a few weeks ago one of my rear drums was seizing up so I took her in for a free brake inspection and the diagnosis was not good - drums were gone, rotors were shot and and the wheel cylinder on the non-sticking side was leaking. This compounded with a P/S rack that has been "offline" since last summer, rusted out quarter panels, busted windshield, etc etc etc, I decided, with some reluctance, that the money would be better spent on a newer and safer vehicle. Case in point, just last week my wife was coming up our driveway (with our two small children, I might add) when the rear wheel locked completely. No amount of tapping (smacking) the drum released the shoes like before. Pumping the pedal would sometimes release it but when I pushed the pedal hard I blew the wheel cylinder on the opposide side. A bad day all round although luckily the cylinder didn't blow in less opportune place, i.e., the highway or in an emergency situation. The guy who will be taking her off my hands has another similar wagon and will sacrifice his to make mine a better vehicle. I feel that she is going to a good home and he promised to drop by when the work is done.

In the meantime I have moved into a 1998 Cherokee Classic, so I am still in a 4WD just a lot bigger and with a lot more creature comforts.

With the older Subarus very much a rarity here (the salt air rusts them like you wouldn't believe) it is unlikely I will own one again - a sad feeling, yes!

Thanks for the help many of you have offered over the past two years and I am happy to say that I have found an equally helpful group of individuals on a Jeep bulletin board.

Cheers and happy 'rooing,

Sean

Tell the Loyale's new owner about the USMB.

Good luck, and hopefully you will come across a deal on a Legacy sometime soon!

Thats what I said several times (hense the name STUPIDRU), somehow I always...magically ...return to driving a Subaru again. I can't stay away. Is there a 12 step program for SubaruFreaks?
