I just picked up a '79 dl front wheel drive.

Stupid question, which is the oil dipstick and which is the tranny?

Could all the rust in the fuel filter be from the gas tank?

I put a new filter in , and 20 miles later it filled with rust again.

Other than that it runs purrrrrfect and the auto tranny shifts great.

only 55k orig miles. not one rip in seats front or rear.

Welcome!

The oil dipstick is located directly behind the intake manifold, toward the passenger side, ON the engine. (It is shorther than the trans stick.) The trans is the other one, on the drivers side of the engine. (It is long) The differential stick is a very short one, way down on the transmission/passenger side.

Welcome! Sounds like another old lady special just rolled into someone else's hands....very cool!

What colors is it in and out?

Yes,you probably have a rotting tank.

Which model is it?Wagon,sedan,or coupe?

I have a tank for coupes, and sedans tucked away.I won't be able to get to it for a while though.

It's red with black pleather interior and wood grain dash. Sedan 2 door.

Any way to fix the tank, it seems pretty easy to access and get out.

Steam clean? I have a steam cleaner at work.
