Rubasu_86_GL Posted September 21, 2005 Share Posted September 21, 2005 I have an 86 GL htchbk 4x4 with the 1.8l engine and carb. was driving it along and she died got it started after some hard cranking and sitting a few minutes... Talked to some mechanics they said fuel pump... So did that and front fuel filter( was not expecting two). Ran great for about two days and then shut down at a stop light(thought idle to low adjusted that later that day). Waited a minute and started back up. Also starts fine when cold, first crank, but has a hard time when warm. Also when starting warm engine will catch but not continue running once cranking ceases. Lastly on warm start will start and run for about ten seconds then die. Any idea besides pushing it off a bridge?? Secondary notes: When changing the fuel pump car started after sitting for three days on first crank, also runs with out the fuel pump plugged in.
