Weber update

So, I need to order a Weber carb with the Hitachi adapter kit for the EA-82 engine?! I take it that the carb will already be properly jetted and such, yes/no?! Now for that Accel Super Stock coil and plug re-gap, already have 7mm solid core plug wires on her. Guess I should be getting a new heater core and shut-off valve for it also, starting to get chilly here in the early AM......

If you buy your Weber from a shop that gets them from Redline, then the carb should be jetted about right for the engine you tell them it's going on. And it should be a genuine new Weber not a ripoff copy or reman used (as apparently some shops are selling.) Note that the guys at Redline say that some fine tuning of the jets might be needed due to minor differences from one engine to the next (of otherwise identical engines.) But so far, I think everyone here has been happy with the jets Redline installed.

Total kewlness!! Ordering from carbsunlimited.com, so I should be all set in that department. Can hardly wait either, she's getting tempermental as all get out with these cool mornings. Just plain don't want to run 'till she warms up a bit. Thanks for all the info, guys.....

That is too funny - I originally typed out the message ending "unless you have dropped and EA-82 into an EA-81 car" but I decided to leave it out assuming it would confuse more than help.

I now know who TomRHere is - recognize his name/EA-82 Brat from the yahoo brat club (I'm chevyguy22)

Have fun with your weber - that puppy should move :headbang:

Well, I ordered it today. Also went ahead and ordered me some tranny and engine mounts for it. Tim,... I've read about the inconsistancies with the kits. Bolt holes not quite right, wrong bolts, not fitting the opening of the manifold exactlly, so on and so forth. I'm prepared for that stuff. Don't have power steering, so that's no problem there. My linkage has already been modded to fit the EA-82 engine and carb, so we'll see what's up there. Bratwerst,... Oh I'm hoping she moves with the Weber. She didn't do to bad with the Hitachi, before it went south on me. Had it's querks, but she'd go when you hit the go pedal. Or should I say loud pedal, as Skip does, 'cause the duals do like to talk when you mash the pedal. Kewl to see another member of the BRAT club on this board, I know of one other, possibly two, on here that's a regular of both sites. I don't have to many different handles. Hard enough to keep track of passwords, let alone what one goes to which name. Getting to old to remember to much stuff.....

I don't know if there's two or more factories maikinf these, but all 4 I've installed worked perfect. The one I have on my hatch right now is awesome. After a week of sitting, in the morning time, I can start it right up, kick it down, and drive away with no problems. As if it were fuel injected or something. . .

Lots of power to boot.

There does seem to be some difference in adapter plates. I've had three styles, all for the EA81. Out of those it was the one distributed by EMPI (through Bow Wow) that fit the Hitachi intake best. One adapter I got from a guy for $5 because two of the bolt holes hadn't been spotfaced for the cap screws. It's sick how much they charge for these adapters...just cheap castings with a few holes and flats.

Tranny and engine mounts arrived yesterday. Carb is sitting in Illinios this AM. It should be sitting where it belongs, not in Illinios. She's really getting difficult to drive now, I need that carb, Real pain to keep her running when first started, choke never did work right, but I could hold it at a fast idle for a few minutes, and be on my way. Now, it's crank crank crank, cough cough spit sputter spit cough die, crank cough spit sputter sputter sputter. Then she'll stay running , well, maybe. Having to do the heel-toe bit on the gas and brakes is a pain, 'specially thru town with all the stop lights and stop signs. I need my Weber!!!!!!!..........

buyasianparts.com is where I got them from. Eng mnt = $78.41 ea., tran mnt = $33.90 ea. Must say that the eng mnts are for the EA-82, and the tran mnts are for the EA-81 4spd. Always fun mixing up parts orders that way, had lots of experience over the years. Had me some genuine Frankenstien vehicles.....
