dimmer switch trouble

I have an 88 gl wagon with the tall skinny dimmer on the left of the steering colum. well it went out and i know that it isnt the fuse and i replaced it with one from my parts subie and it shorted in a day. does anyone have one or know how to fix my broken one.

PS my brother just got a 90 loyal and he loves it to death push button 4x4 but i still have the D/R 5 so its fair
