I would like to thank all of you for your insight about these vehicles. It has helped me a lot in making decisions about parts and repairs for my twenty-one year old station wagon!
P.S. would my WRX be considered Gen X? Gen Y? Oh well... Thanks again!

your car would be in the gen 2 range, 80-84 wagons, sedans, and 80-89 hatchback and brats.
the what would be a gen 3 as you put it would be the 85-94 ea82 cars. but they started calling them loyale in 90 when the legacy came out.
all of these have the ea series motor, and the legacy and newer have ej motors

EA71's have the Gen1 Body style, skinny and old looking. EA81's have the Gen2 body style from 1980 to 1984, and EA82's have the newer Loyale type boxy body style.

Now that's a subjective statement!

but to each his own eh?

I do favor the Gen2's... actually, i favor the Gen1's overall, but cant get them anymore.

Or are jes talking that you can't get them in Cali anymore? I can see that as a possiblity.

the justy has a geo metro motor, and its sideways.
Suzuki said "Hey Subaru! Design us a 4wd platform for our suzukis"
and Subaru said "Sure we will, but we get the marketing rights and sell them as soobs!"

justy's re suzukies. just like old dodge minivans had mitsubishis under the hood, and thre geo prism is a toyota, and the chevy/geo spectrum in an isizu i-mark, and the geo tracker is a suzuki sidekick, and the geo storm is some sort of suzuki known as a pontiac elsewhere
one of them odd breeds
