Scooby Coupe Posted October 1, 2003 Share Posted October 1, 2003 I have been reading with great interest the recent discussions of the GL10 and Gen1 and Gen2 Subarus. The discussions lead me to a question: is the Loyale considered Gen3? The Loyale seems much larger than my 1982 GL, which I think is a Gen2. I would like to thank all of you for your insight about these vehicles. It has helped me a lot in making decisions about parts and repairs for my twenty-one year old station wagon! MilesFox Posted October 1, 2003 Share Posted October 1, 2003 the gen 1 is referring to the 70's models. or often called ea71's. your car would be in the gen 2 range, 80-84 wagons, sedans, and 80-89 hatchback and brats. the what would be a gen 3 as you put it would be the 85-94 ea82 cars. but they started calling them loyale in 90 when the legacy came out. all of these have the ea series motor, and the legacy and newer have ej motors Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We really dont call it Gen3 though, most cases we use the engine code to classify the model genre. EA71=Gen1, EA81=Gen2, EA82=Gen3. EA71's have the Gen1 Body style, skinny and old looking. Looked really clean from what I saw of it, and it had the jump seats still. Or are jes talking that you can't get them in Cali anymore? I can see that as a possiblity. I have a guy who has a very sweet '78 4WD Wagon for sale for $300, needs CV and radiator... and I have a guy with a very sweet '76 4WD Wagon that needs a new EA71, $200.
