I finally brought my BRAT home today. The alternator is toast so I had to run the engine at whatever RPM's kept the voltmeter at a happy level, but other than that it made it home perfectly. First on the list is a trip to autozone for a new alternator. Then the fun starts
I will update the thread as things progress on it
Question... on the passenger side (82 BRAT) what is supposed to be above the door and below the T top? I have a coat hook in the front hole and an empty back hole. Is there supposed to be an "oh Sh__" handle there instead of the hook and empty hole?

I believe the Brats had a strap instead of a handle.
Have you decided where your going to for the body parts?

you know...
you're going to need to do a sweet exhaust system if you can.
dual with a crossover pipe... if you don't need it legal, you can do a straight back to some nice mufflers or something.

a brat is a fine choice, here is my brat page, on the second page there are some pics of how I am fixing the rust.
P.S. it is a strap.

I really dont care about custom exhaust... I plan to sell the brat on NASIOC.com unless I totally fall in love with it.

I'm not sure what goes in the holes on your 82, but my 83 has a strap and a bracket to rest in in when not in use. Hope that helps.

Ahhhhh ya that does help.... I bet the empty hole is where the strap would go and the "coat hook" is the hook the loop goes over so it doesnt hang down

The gas guage was acting funny today, It was reading darn near full (I only put $5 in the brat since I bought it) however it turned out the Brat only took $6 of gas to fill up. So apparently the gas guage is finally being honest and had been lying about being empty when I first picked it up. Maybe the fuel just had to slosh around in the tank to make the sender be honest or something. (It had sat for a while, running it around every day, or every other day is making it run so much nicer)
On another note, the old rubber winshield seal was toast so I had a new one installed $45 for the part $50 for labor. I am SOOO happy they didnt break the glass as its flawless
I did have to run to U-Pull-It really quick and grab the missing chrome strips for it. But its all installed now and finally should be sealed
Now when is my lift gonna get here? (My parents are supposed to call me) <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">
