Jim Padgett
What is the best way to disable the Factory Alarm? I installed a remote starter and now need to disable the Factory Alarm. The diagrams I have say the module should be behind the glove box, but I must be blind... I got to drive on 5" of Richmond, VA snow.. what a blast.. I now have traction, room for 4 adults and a great big trunk... quite a step from my suicidal ( only on snow ) 2000 Toyota MR2.. :-)
Legacy777
I think if you disable the factory alarm, you may lose the remote door opener. Will the remote start not work with the alarm?
Jim Padgett
If you lock the doors with the factory remote or lock the doors with a door open, and later start the car with the remote starter, the alarm goes off. I think this is because the dome light lights when the ignition goes to the ON state when starting, but for what ever reason I don't know how to disable the factory alarm so I was asking here. Legacy777
Hmm...yeah I'm not really sure how to disable the alarm. Have you asked the subaru dealership? Have you looked to see if there's a fuse?
