Got the code after buying Actron scanner to investigate cel. Cleared it and it came back immediately. Checked for 12v at connector for the vent control solenoid valve, no problem. Removed the solenoid valve/filter canister assemble and bench checked the solenoid valve by applying 12v from a battery charder to the connector terminals, At first chattery then seemed to be working right, but when returned to vehicle cel back on after clearing.

Wondering if I should go ahead and replace the valve anyway or if i bench tested it correctly or if i have the right part to be checking for that code.

TIA.

P0446 means the ECU hasn't detected the 12v coming back thru the Drain Valve Solenoid before it activates (grounds) it. This is at pin a10 of the ECU. If you checked the correct valve/solenoid, then I would suspect either a poor connection at one of the conectors or a damaged wire. You can start at the solenoid connector itself and either work your way to the Main relay(if 12v is missing) or back to the ECU (if the 12v was present at the solenoid return side).

The Manual calls P0446 Vent Valve low.....the attached diagram calls it the Drain Valve

hi,

could the P0446 generate a missfire on all 4 cylinders ? as the weather got cold the car runs really bad and the missfire codes for all 4 cylinders came up beside the p0466 code. the whole summer and fall the car was running fine even the code was there but now since the temperatures are dropping below - C the car runs bad...

thanks a lot.
