Almost passed inspection

Recommended Posts

Almost passed the state inspection. The guy caught an exhaust leak. He said I need to weld a seam "between the engine and the pipe." I'm guessing it's a seam between the exhaust manifold and the pipe. Otherwise, the wagon's in perfect condition. The guy was very impressed and asked if I'd driven it all the way from Colorado (the wagon has CO plates, I'm in TX). I told him I towed it. I spared him my story about the lost wheel, etc., etc., blah, blah. Should pass tomorrow after the weld.

After 3 days of driving to and from work (65 miles round trip) the wagon has improved performance like ten times. Now the engine is driving a lot smoother. I guess I burned all that old gas that's been sitting in the tank for who knows how long (and that was Colorado gas, lowww octane--and I've been using only the 93 octane here in TX).

The Buick's death (temporary) is what made me put the Subaru into service and I don't regret it. (It was that or "borrow/share" the wife's Aviator, no thank you). Of course, the wagon has been a toll road queen for three days, no I-45 traffic for this baby!

Oh, the inspection guy is a Nicaraguan paisano. And he knows me way too well from my multiple attempts to pass inspection and emissions (ever unsuccessfully) with my 1987 Yugo GV.

Later!

good to hear Ennio

now leave that stinking Buick at home:lol: lol

take the sube:banana:

never! I tried and tried and tried and failed every time. The PO had yanked out all the emissions stuff (it used to be a FL car, where apparently there is no pollution?!), which didn't help. So I quit trying. The Yugo is now with a happy owner in El Paso TX where, I believe, emissions testing is not required.
