so im guessing this is an ej20 from a wrx or sumthing similar going into your rx? If so I am reeeeaally interested since I want to do something similar downt he road. Plans to do it sooner got curbed after paying for school hit me. It would be great if you keep documenting your progress as you have been now. I will need all the help i can get haha. Especially wiring which you seem to have down. Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see it finished.:D

how long did it take you to do the wiring...sounded like it took you one day.....if thats the case, you are a wire stripping master! i believe that is the EJ20G from the JDM legacy turbo. stock boost is 10 psi. ....im sure we can expect more boost form you in the future.

you are pretty much correct.

I started on Sat night, and got frustrated/tired and wend to bed so i didn't screw anything up.

Finished it up Sunday morning...All told...probably a total of like 4 Hrs sitting on the floor with the diagrams, knife, and diagonal cutters

Not entirely sure it's going to be 100%...but i'll figure that out once i put it in the RX!

Yes, otherwise it would be an EA82T with DOHC and blow head gaskets 'all the time.'

the EJ25D's have composite headgaskets...and blow all the time. The updated headgaskets are metal. They dont blow. The EJ207/257/255/251/253/22T/22G/20G/20H/20K all have metal.

the EJ18E/EJ22E have composits and still blow as often as an EA82 N/A does....which is not all that often, but it still happens.

Please explain, an EJ series engine is different then an EA82 series engine. Too many differences to list.

EJ20G=closed deck, medium cast pressure block, 5 main bearings, 1 timing belt, water pump by timing belt, oil pump by crank...

EA82(all)=closed deck, medium cast pressure block, 3 main bearings, 2 timing belts, oil pump by belt, waterpump by accessory belts...

Yes, there are differences...there are advantages and disadvantages of both...each of which can be leveled with proper forethought.

However, the base facts are the same...closed deck, medium cast pressure.

Not all EJ20Gs are closed deck. You are really streching it comparing an EA82 series to an EJ series, two different worlds. Check the second table on this web site, http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/engine.html , note that the 'C' type is an EJ20G, and an open deck.

Not all EJ20Gs are closed deck.

At first I was not sure that someone actually said that...I can believe that comming from a n00b...but from you? Thats like you saying the EJ22E is closed deck.

I would like to piont out exibit A...this thread, post #36: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13851&page=2&highlight=EJ22E+closed+deck

G is the desination for turbo, DOHC, closed deck med-cast block, usually only for Impreza GC8.

K and H are EJ20's for the Legacy, one of them is TT, otherwise they are closed deck med cast block.

T is the designation for SOHC turbo closed deck med cast block....aka EJ22T.

That page is inccorect. The 22B got the EJ22G. Same block as Legacy turbo in USDM, except with the piston oil squirters disabled. Otherwise, the really nice heads and etc etc etc......

Primary example of why that page is wrong...

look under the section 'STi Verion engine data'

look over at the 'F, G Type STi, R/RA-STi' column...

Engine type...EJ205.

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EJ207 is the correct answer.. 5 designates the 'world engine' for the EJ20. 5 is the completely open deck 1994CC DOHC single turbo EJ20...used all over the planet as a univeral engine for everything.

EJ207 is the 'new STi' engine. It is semi open deck, all forged internals...the Spec C and RA verions of the 207 can rev to 8,000 easily all day long. It is the Spec C engine that Prodrive 'borrows' for WRC use.

The EJ205 is weak sauce. The EJ207 is hot sauce. The EJ255/257 is Nuclear grade.

That page is incorrect. A random internet web page does not know it all.

Here is a page that is correct: http://www.spdusa.com/new_page_4.htm

Oh, and here are those pics of the EJ22E is open deck from a 1990 legacy (8/89 production date):

Gee, I'm sorry, but I haven't been stagnent in the learning about these engine since 2004, what I said in that post I have since learned is not completely true, as I pointed you to a trusted site, that shows you the differences between the different engines. I am still learning about these engines, I know now that not all EJ20Gs have closed decks, the engine in my car is an open deck, the engine block that I am picking up this weekend is from an early Legacy EJ20G, it has an open deck. So when I say that not all EJ20Gs have a closed deck, I am talking from experience. The EJ20G was not ONLY used in the Impreza, and my last sentence shows. The EJ20K is the engine in the Version IV WRXs. The 22B engine was not the same as the US EJ22T. There is some good info in the link you gave, but it is not accurate either, the link I gave compares exactly as the info I have found from Japanese site. So, if you what to exchange barbs about who is more knowledgeable about these engines, fire away.
