Hondasucks Posted January 22, 2006 Share Posted January 22, 2006 Bugs are air cooled, most vanagons are water cooled (I think 83 or 84 was the last year for air cooled vanagons) so the logistics of putting a water cooled engine in is a lot easier (Although it can be done in a bug) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Its not impossible the big difference in the conversions is that theres a HUGE aftermarket for the air cooled bug engine, such that doing the ej22 isnt as much of a no brainer as a Vanagon conversion.
