you just need to swap the heads and depending on what block you have (carbed, SPFI, MPFI) it'll raise the compression ratio which will make the car a bit quicker. Also, swap the intake as well since they differ between the turbo and non turbo MPFI cars.

 

Sweet!!! Time to swap then...man i'am having a good day...i got another 4WD Subaru W/ Turbo, i found i can take that turbo and put it on my car that already runs...and i got a date with this girl...like three good things in a day....i'am on a roll guys!!!

My EA-82 SPFI is apart right now. Forged rods and crank, cast pistons. I believe the main difference with the turbo is the pistons, but don't think they are forged, just dished for lower compression.

 

you are correct my friend. As far as blocks go, the only differences between and turbo and a nonturbo block is one or two things depending on what nonturbo block you have. The turbo blocks have a PCV coming from the back of the block right next to the bellhousing sticking straight up into the air and also has a hole for the knock sensor. IIRC, the carbed and SPFI engines have no knock sensor but the threaded bung for them should be there I believe. The nonturbo MPFI block has a knock sensor but no PCV and the turbo has the knock sensor AND PCV.

The other difference that wasn't mentioned (or maybe I just didn't see it) is that apparently the EA82T main bearings are slightly wider for more surface area. However, many people have run N/A blocks with the turbo and no bearing failure, so I don't think it's a problem.

 

So, to recap, aside from:

1. Different pistons

2. PCV port

3. Wider main bearings

The EA82 and EA82T are identical from the headgasket surface inward.
